Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness or the loss of a loved one – they are there when it matters.

This became a reality to me in December 2023 when my beloved 'Grandma' (she would hate me saying that!) Gee spent her final 10 days of her very special life in the amazing care of Sue Ryder, having being diagnosed with a brain tumour not long before.

Whilst it was a truly difficult time for all of my family and I; we quite honestly look back at it as a very peaceful and almost magical time. Their staff are complete angels, who no doubt have lots going on in their everyday lives, but that completely stops at the door to prioritise not only the patients in their care, but all their family members. We felt like the only ones in their world, they would do anything to keep us and Gee comfortable. We got to spend the most memorable 10 days with each of our very big family able to come and say their goodbyes properly whilst Gee was still around. The team at Sue Ryder allowed it to be the most peaceful and dignified send off she wanted.

As a family, we have vowed to do whatever we can to support this charity so that other families can continue receiving the care, attention and support we so thankfully received. I have always dipped in and out of running since 2018 and thought there be no better achievement than to run the London Marathon and make Gee proud!

Sue Ryder is all charity run, so they are only able to provide so long as we keep giving! I would absolutely love to raise £4,000 from team FOURacres Family as a small gesture of thanks to their angel staff! I would be every so grateful for any donation to help along the way!
