Guy's running a marathon for Romsey Mill

Guy Walker is raising money for Romsey Mill

Rock 'n' Roll San Diego Marathon · 31 May 2026

Romsey Mill creates opportunities with disadvantaged young people and families in Cambridgeshire. With a long-term relational approach it furthers development through activities shaped with participants. Romsey Mill works with young parents, young families, young people on the autistic spectrum and young people needing focused support to increase confidence and skills.

Story

On May 31 I will be running the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon to support the Cambridgeshire charity Romsey Mill.

My son, Frankie has recently started attending a club for autistic children called Aspire run by the charity.

A weekly club might seem like a small thing, but for Frankie, Charlotte and I it has been life-changing.

A group he can attend where we can safely leave him for a couple of hours is something we’ve never had before.

It’s hard to know exactly why the group works so well for Frankie. If you ask him, he just says it’s because he can ‘do whatever he wants’. But it’s obvious the people running it know what they are doing, from the atmosphere they create to the support they provide.

The world is often a confusing and overwhelming place for Frankie. So, having somewhere he can go where he can truly be himself is so important.

Romsey Mill is a charity committed to overcoming disadvantage, challenging injustice and promoting social inclusion with young people, children and families. Each year, they work with over 2,000 individuals and families, from Cambridge city and across areas of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

This will be my second marathon, having run the Philadelphia Marathon in 2022. Philly was run in -2°C while San Diego is likely to be over 20°C so it will be a very different experience!

Please give me a boost to get to the finish line by making a donation.
