Nearly 4 years ago I received the news that no one ever wants to hear " I'm afraid that you have cancer" I was fit, healthy and active, all I had was a little lump in my neck with no other symptoms.

I underwent a course of 30 radiotherapy and 6 Chemotherapy sessions, was unable to eat, drink or speak but all the way through my journey I was fully supported by family, friends and the fantastic staff who specialize in dealing with this horrible disease.

Now, I am cancer-free and have been lucky enough to be able to carry on enjoying life but I realise some are not so lucky.

It's only through the brilliant work that cancer research charities do, finding new ways to improve survival rates against this disease that I and many of thousands of others are able to have 'a second chance' .

I am by no means a runner, but I feel it's time to give something back and help raise funds, so others have that second chance of life too.
