My son Ernie was diagnosed with CPAM at our 20 week scan, at that point we didn't know whether he was going to make it or how badly he would be effected.

Ronald McDonald House UK helps families with children in hospital stay close by providing free accommodation just minutes from children’s hospital wards.

Luckily, when he was born, he came out in fighting fit condition and we didn't even need to use the housing support. That being said, it opened our eyes in a time of need that there was some back up and help, to family's like ours to relieve some of the burden put on you when you have sick children.

Houses provide more than accommodation. They offer stability and emotional support that allow parents and carers to be active partners in care. Demand for support from families with children who are seriously ill, remains high. Please show your support to provide sustained funding: to keep Houses running, supporting families day-to-day, and growing their ability to help even more families.

So I am not a runner histiorically, that being said I am running in The Maverick Kielder 24km gravel on the 5th of september. This i am hoping is going to be the start of some much bigger things to raise money and awareness for this brilliant charity!

In 2025 alone, The Ronald Mcdonald House charity had over 8,500 family's stay with them for an average of 16 nights!

It costs around £70 for a family of 4 for one night, and kitchen re-stocks are often around £40, so imagine how many family we can help in a time of need if we hit the target of £1000!
