In memory of Catherine Aston

Run/Walk from Cheltenham Oncology Reception to West End, Wickwar · 24 August 2025

The Rotary Club of Cotswold Tyndale covers the area surrounding Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire. We are a volunteer service organisation that supports our local community and charities. We provide support at local events and run a number of fundraising activities to generate funds that we can then distribute to local/national charities and organisation to support their work. Our major project for the next two years is to support The Big Space Appeal for the Cheltenham Hospital Oncology Unit.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Over Sunday 24th and Monday 25th August 2025 I will be undertaking a run/walk journey of around 35 miles to honour my late friend Catherine Aston. This lady was treated for cancer at the Cheltenham Oncology centre in Cheltenham, and lived at West End, near Wickwar in Gloucestershire with her devoted husband Derek. My trek will take place between these two points, taking in a section of the Cotswold Way Trail. Catherine sadly passed away on 30th December 2023.

This event is for the Rotary Big Space Appeal, to raise funds to upgrade the current facilities at Cheltenham. Today, you are told you have cancer in a small, windowless office, and we are trying to change the experience to make it a little more bearable. People are invited to join me along the route to remember Catherine. This is not a race! Walking will be included as I want this tribute to be as inclusive as possible. There will be food and refreshments at the finish! Further details to follow.

Please support this as she was a very brave lady, and future patients and the dedicated staff deserve better. Thank you.
