Cycling the North Coast 500! · 25 June 2024

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm cycling 500 miles over 5 or 6 days to raise money for the Alzheimers Society.

The North Coast 500 is a long distance cycle route in Scotland, renowned for its severity, with over 32,000 feet of total ascent. I will be cycling this route starting on June 25th 2024, aiming to complete it in 5 - 6 days. This will mean covering around 90 - 100 miles per day.

I plan to carry full camping kit on the bike and will use either official campsites or camp wild. This will give me the flexibility to ride longer or shorter days should it prove necessary. Although I am accustomed to regular cycling, it should be a tough few days.

I am taking on this challenge for charity and hope you will feel that you are able to afford a small donation via this JustGiving page. The charity which I am supporting is the Alzheimers Society. A close family member has recently been diagnosed with this terrible condition and this has prompted me to take on this cycling challenge to raise as much money as possible with the hope that it will eventually help find a cure for Alzheimers and other forms of dementia.

Donating through Just Giving is simple, fast and secure. By donating on this page your donations are sent directly to the charity so it is the most efficient way to donate, saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
