Story

2024 marks two milestones.

Firstly and most importantly Jess the dog reaches the grand old age of 100 (in doggy years!). I rescued Jess in April 2010 at 5 months old, She turned 14 last December and by my reckoning in doggy years she hits her century in April this year ❤️

And secondly I celebrate 10 Years All Clear from cancer….

In 2014 Wokingham Borough ran a trial offering early mammograms. I was 47 when the letter dropped through my door and I joked with my friends about it being the slippery slope to 50! I would never have found the lump and without that trial and having to wait those extra years to reach the statutory mammogram age, who knows where I would be now.

Jess and I have so much to celebrate this year 🥳

So I’m using these two fabulous milestones to emotionally extort money out of my friends and acquaintances to raise money for a wonderful charity I volunteer with, My Cancer My Choices. Also please note, I haven’t asked anyone for any sponsorship since I ran the London Marathon in 1998!!!

Jess and I will be undertaking challenge together throughout the year. This will mainly entail Jess sat in her rucksack watching the world go by and eating cheese whilst I carry said rucksack containing 16kg of dog on my back! We’ll be coming up with other exciting ideas throughout the year.

So please encourage us by throwing some of your hard earned dosh our way and we’ll keep you posted on our adventures.

Thank you all so much for your support ❤️ 🐾

My Cancer My Choices:

One in two people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime. Cancer affects the body, mind and spirit and MCMC passionately believes everyone with cancer should have access, from diagnosis, to complementary therapies. MCMC's volunteer, specialist therapists offer free, one-to-one treatments such as acupuncture and massage, alongside group courses in mindfulness and yoga. These aim to relieve the side effects of cancer treatment and can make the cancer journey easier by encouraging relaxation and reducing stress.

Jess and em(barked) on our first adventure with a group of wonderful friends on Saturday 20th April. Jess enjoyed the ride and all the treats she was given along the way. Thank you to everyone who is supporting our year of Fund raising and a really big wooof from Jess! 🐾
