Story

On the 22nd Dec 2023 my sister Michelle passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer. Michelle was an extremely special person, lived for her family, embraced life and her kind and beautiful way make her sorely missed. Michelle’s loss is great and one we’ll never come to terms with.

Michelle spent her last few weeks in the care of Foyle Hospice. Over a period of 35 years, the Hospice has become synonymous with palliative care services and support across the North West of Northern Ireland. To show our appreciation for this amazing facility and team, we’d like to give something back by raising as much money as we can.

On the 30th of June 2024 I intend to cycle La Marmotte. The Marmotte is best known as the hardest single day cycling event in Europe with its 16000ft climbing over 174km. This is a serious challenge which has four giant, Tour de France featuring alpine climbs. A test of endurance that typically entices a 1/3 of its 5000 entrants to drop out.

Although the Marmotte is a single day event, 5 months of training (suffering) will be required to build fitness to tackle and complete the event. I’ll share updates on the training journey which I’ll be undertaking with 6 friends.

100% of the money donated goes directly to Foyle Hospice. The trip is funded personally. Any donation will be greatly appreciated . The Foyle Hospice is a worthy cause, in memory of Michelle.

Thanks
