Christopher Andrew Keenan was born on 18 August 1994 in Scotland. He was a kind, funny and loving boy. He had a huge heart and would offer his love, time and care to people in need and animals. The big love of his life was his dog Jiggs who he snuck into his room to sleep every night. At just nine years old, Christopher was diagnosed with Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD). He died in March 2005, age 10, at home with his Mum, Dad and sister.

Since losing Christopher, we have made it a priority as a family to give back to charities and those in need in his name as much as we can. It would bring him so much joy to know we are continuing to help others and find a positive in our heartbreaking loss.

We know asking for money is a big ask so please only help if you are able, even if that’s sharing this page or telling others about Christopher and ALD.

Leukodystrophies are rare genetic disorders that mainly affect the white matter of the central nervous system (ie the brain or spinal cord). They affect people of all ages and backgrounds, most notably children.

Leukodystrophies are usually degenerative, causing symptoms such as impaired mobility, vision, speech and hearing, incontinence,and loss of cognitive skills. In many cases, this sadly means a reduced or limited lifespan.
