In memory of Kallipateira Rodothea Moorhouse

Angel of the North to Manchester Extreme Challenge Walk - July 12-13 2025. Prophet Elias Rhodes Extreme Challenge - July 20th 2025

The Kallipateira Moorhouse Foundation will increase the awareness of Stillbirth, support parents who have experienced the death of a baby & support research to help reduce the numbers of babies who die during pregnancy or birth. We support the Tommy's Manchester rainbow clinic & research centre.

Story

On October 26th, 2018, our daughter Kallipateira was Stillborn just two weeks before her due date. As I held Kallipateira in my arms I made her a promise that I would do her proud and continue her legacy by helping to support other parents who have experienced the death of a baby/babies, and to help save babies lives.

On May 16th, 2019, we then experienced a miscarriage at 9 weeks of pregnancy.

The devastation of Kallipateira's death is with me each and every day. The pain does not go away but somehow you must adapt to a different life. I would have given Kallipateira my life for her to be ok. I must now be Kallipateira's voice. Every baby deserves a chance at life.

On May 23rd, 2020, we gave birth to our rainbow baby Apollon Alexandros Moorhouse who was born early at 35 weeks at Saint Marys Hospital in Manchester. After the death of Kallipateira and a miscarriage we knew that to hopefully give Kallipateira a brother or sister with a better outcome we must be cared for by the best in the UK, Professor Alexander Heazell of The Tommy’s Rainbow Clinic and Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre in Manchester. Through the world class care and research, they undertake and put into practice, we are proud to say Apollon is a real-life miracle. If it were not for Alex Heazell he would not be here.

Kallipateira is the love of my life and in her honour and for her legacy to help save babies lives I will will take on two extreme challenges in 2025.

As Kallipateira’s dad I need to channel my grief into this and raise more funds for Alex and his team to help save babies lives through research.

On July 12-13th, 2025, I will walk 120 Miles nonstop from the Angel of the North in Gateshead to Saint Marys Hospital in Manchester - the home of Alex Heazell and his team at the Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre and the Tommy's Rainbow Clinic. This will be one night of no sleep

Less than one week later I will be heading back to my second home to the Greek Island of Rhodes.

On July 20th and less than six hours after landing during the height of summer I will take on the colossal task of taking on the mountain road of Prophet Elias Monastery in Faliraki a total of 50 times in one day. Taking this on so soon after the Angel of the North to Manchester extreme challenge walk and just hours after landing will be a huge physical and mental challenge. This will be very dangerous to take on so soon after landing. The mountain road has no shade at all.

The monastery of Prophet Elias is built on the top of the mountain above the beach of Anthony Quinn a picturesque monastery with the most imposing views you can meet in Faliraki as it is built in the highest part of the area.

Taking on two extreme challenges in one week will be a wonderful opportunity to once again show that with love and a reason why anything can be achieved.

We are proud that Dignity Funeral Directors are once again the official headline sponsor of both of my 2025 extreme challenges.

All funds raised from both events will go to Alex Heazell and his team at the Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre and Rainbow Clinic in Manchester to help save babies lives.

I ask everyone to please support and donate/sponsor what you can and by doing this you will be making a big difference for Professor Heazell and his teams and helping to save babies lives nationally.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best wishes

Ben Moorhouse
