Story
The Jurassic 4 are taking on Muscular Dystrophy UK’s Pedal, Paddle, Peak Jurassic Coast challenge for our good friend Paul, Laura's husband, who has a rare form of muscular dystrophy. We are also doing this in loving memory of Gary Evans, Paul's brother, who had the same condition and sadly passed away in February this year.
We should really be called The Jurassic 5, as we wouldn’t be doing this without the support and inspiration of Paul.
Paul is known in our house as ‘The King of Meat’, as no one can BBQ quite like him. He is a kind, Aston Villa loving, rugby obsessed family man and a proud physiotherapist.
He would absolutely love to take part in this challenge, but due to his muscular dystrophy, he is unable to.
Muscular dystrophy is a group of rare conditions that gradually cause muscles to weaken and waste. You may sometimes hear them referred to as neuromuscular conditions, or as muscle wasting and weakening conditions. They are usually inherited and are caused by changes (mutations) in the genes responsible for the structure and function of our muscles.
If you know Paul and Laura Evans, you’ll know how much fundraising and awareness they raise for the charity. Paul’s lack of physical strength has never affected the strength of his heart or character. Our mutual patients always describe him as the kindest physio they have ever met.
We are doing this for Paul and his beloved family.
The Evans’ are a strong, fun loving and caring family, and we will be thinking of them every push, paddle and step of the way xxxx
All donations and support are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
