At Ouse & Adur Rivers Trust we are working hard to protect, restore and enhance the rivers, streams, estuaries and lakes within the catchment. Our vision is a rich and diverse water environment for all - but we can’t do it alone and we need your help. Support us to fight water pollution, to raise awareness of the threats that impact our rivers and to take action to deliver projects focused on improving the environment for both wildlife and people.

Story

Lauris (age 7 in human years) and Stringy (aged 10 in bunny years) are walking the South Downs Way this January to raise money for the Ouse & Adur Rivers Trust. They will be joined for some of the way by Lauris's sister Sylvie (age 4) and Lauris's mum and dad (age unspecified).

Lauris says: “I live near Barcombe Mills and the river there is not clean enough for us to swim in because of sewage and chemicals from farms. This is also really bad for the plants and the fish. My favourite animals are beavers and otters, and I want the rivers to be clean enough so that they can live there.”

Our plan is to walk 100 miles in 10 days, starting in Eastbourne on January 6th and ending in Winchester on January 15th, but Lauris is quite small to be attempting this sort of thing and we'll be guided by what she feels comfortable with. If it all gets a bit much, we'll finish off the walk later in January.

Thanks to everyone who looks at this page, and maybe we'll see you along the route!
