Story

I’m running the Authentic Athens Marathon on Sunday, 9th November 2025 and in doing so I want to raise funds for a remarkable little boy named Luke, who was born with multiple life-changing conditions. Luke is now 4 years old. There were no complications identified during the pregnancy but concerns with reduced movements, lead to Luke being born via emergency c-section.

Infantile spasms is a very rare and aggressive form of epilepsy that usually happens within the first year of life. Luke had this but the treatment worked and as far as we know, he’s been seizure free since. As he had the infantile spasms, he has a high risk of developing epilepsy. Infantile spams are very damaging though and they have affected Luke’s development. He has also been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, cerebral visual impairment (Luke’s eyes are healthy and the information is reaching his brain although his brain is unable to process what his eyes are seeing), and dystonia, but despite this Luke continues to inspire everyone around him with his courage and spirit.

As he grows older his needs will change and his parents have to provide the specialist equipment needed to support his needs. The funds raised will help provide vital therapies and specialist equipment to improve his comfort and quality of life. He enjoys music, being around people, feeling free in the water and sensory rooms.

Please support this cause for Luke and his incredible family as they navigate the daily challenges of his condition. Every donation makes a real difference.Just4Children are seeking to help provide equipment and therapy that Luke needs so he can continue to shine and access as many experiences as his peers.
