We believe that all pets should have access to veterinary care – regardless of their owners’ financial situation. Over 100 years, we’ve helped more than 20 million sick and injured pets – providing life-saving vet care to more vulnerable pets than any other animal charity in the UK today.

Story

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to read about my London Marathon 2024 run. I am raising money for the PDSA (People's Dispensary for Sick Animals) along the way and I hope you can help.

The PDSA is the UK's largest veterinary charity with 49 veterinary hospitals around the UK, treating an animal every 5 seconds and supporting their owners.

As well as this, PDSA play a huge roll in veterinary education, and the majority of vets out there have benefitted from the time and professionalism that PDSA teams dedicate to hosting them as vet students. I personally have benefited from workshops and time spent on placement with PDSA so far throughout my veterinary studies, and soon myself and the rest of my cohort at Harper and Keele Vet School will carry out some of our final year rotations with PDSA hospitals.

PDSA rely on public donations for any of their work to be possible, and this is particularly relevant at a time where resources are strained and the need for their services is rapidly growing.

I have chosen to fundraise for PDSA not only for the excellent work they do in the treatment of sick animals, but also to acknowledge all that they have and continue to do for my own and many others veterinary education.

Anything you can spare will be greatly appreciated by both myself and the PDSA to help with responsible and affordable veterinary care at a time of major need.

Huge thanks,

Lewis
