November is always a tough month for our family, but this year it's especially difficult as we should be celebrating Matthew's 21st birthday.

Matthew was born healthy, but at the age of 3, his health began to decline. After countless hospital visits and tests, he was diagnosed with Late Infantile Batten Disease, a rare and fatal neurodegenerative condition. On his 7th birthday (Novembr 10th), Matthew became seriously ill and passed away on November 21st, 2009.

It's hard to put into words how painful this time of year is for us, but we find comfort in supporting Acorns Children's Hospice Trust. They were there for us every step of the way during our journey with Matthew and continue to make a difference in the lives of so many local families.

In honor of Matthew's birthday and anniversary, we're participating in a personal challenge to raise funds for Acorns Children's Hospice Trust. Our goal is to raise £210.
