Story
Hello everybody,
Helen, Nicci and Mel are all good friends and work together as palliative care nurses on the inpatient unit at St Richards Hospice. We have all completed a few hikes in the UK and in November will be our biggest challenge as we are trekking to Everest base camp. We are raising money for St Richard’s Hospice.
The hospice cares for adults with illnesses which cannot be cured and who have complex needs which cannot be met by other services; As well as supporting their loved ones. Every day, the team at St Richard’s Hospice has more than 1,220 people under their care at the inpatient unit, in people’s own homes or in the community.
As you have probably seen in the news a lot of hospices have been struggling due to lack of funding, therefore it makes it more important to raise as much as we can to ensure hospices can continue to do incredible work.
This challenge will involve a tough 12 day trek including the summit of Kala Pattar after we’ve reached Everest Base camp (5364 metres)
It will be an incredible experience with memories made to treasure for years to come, all while raising the funds needed to continue the vital care that the hospice provides.
Funds raised will help the hospice continue its free, specialist palliative and end of life care to patients living with incurable illnesses.
We have all self funded this trip, therefore every penny raised will go directly to the Hospice care.
Thank you all,
Love Helen, Nicci and Mel.
xx
