Help our Residents to Live Later Life Well with our Garden Project.

Our back garden project is to make the garden more accessible for everyone to use, which will increase self-esteem, independence and sense of freedom. It will also make the environment more user friendly and would encourage social interaction and promote a family friendly atmosphere for everyone to use and enjoy.

Currently we have a path that goes around the perimeter of the grass which is a long way to walk for some of our residents and it’s just the same view and same route each time. By creating a pathway down the centre of the garden and out towards each of the sides (a cross shape) will allow residents to travel in any direction and wander safely around the garden and will offer a variety of shorter more enjoyable walks.

At the centre of the paths the new garden will have a pagoda which will give residents the opportunity to sit and enjoy the garden, have a cuppa and chat with family and friends. In the centre of the pagoda there will feature a sensory garden to ignite memories and help to rediscover plants and interests.

By creating an open welcoming space will encourage our residents to spend more time outdoors to reconnect with nature. Being active can reduce stress levels, improve coordination and improve mental and physical health.

It will offer an opportunity for everyone to feel stimulated and a time to reconnect with themselves.As a charity, fundraising and donations play a big role in making everything we do possible. They enable us to provide additional services that help to replace loneliness with a sense of togetherness, encouraging later life to be both celebrated and lived well.

Whether it’s a creative coffee morning fuelled by arts and crafts or making communication possible through music therapy, every donation we receive goes towards making later life something that deserves to be celebrated, enjoyed, and lived well.
