Story
Thank you so much for visiting our Just Giving page in memory of John Charity, a much loved husband, father and friend.
On Sunday 17th August 2025, my father, John, lost his life following a cardiac event during a walk with me along the South Devon coastal path. The emergency service team arrived at the scene of the event promptly, despite facing adverse conditions such as a lack of phone signal, inability to land the helicopter due to the rugged terrain and having to run down a large, unforgiving hill to reach the site of the accident, all whilst carrying heavy equipment. The team calmly and swiftly attempted everything in their power to save my dad, and though unsuccessful, their skill, compassion and professionalism was remarkable, and our family could not be more grateful for their efforts.
Even though having to watch the event occur was extremely difficult, I, Natalie, could not be more thankful for the emergency services team for their efforts. I am so proud of the South Western Ambulance Service NHS foundation trust (SWAST) for their ongoing excellent service and we must continue to support these heroes.
Our family appreciate all of the support that we have been given, and we kindly ask that we can remember John together through raising money for the people that helped him at that critical moment. In this way, we can support SWAST in saving more people each and everyday to better the lives of hundreds of others.
Thank you,
Natalie Charity and Family
