Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.

Story

I was diagnosed with a Grade II Oligodendroglioma Tumour in September 2017 whilst on holiday in Spain, I was 26 years old.

Prior to this diagnosis I had no symptoms until I collapsed on the floor having a seizure. These horrific seizures continued until a fantastic medical team at Hospital Universitario Juan Ramón Jiménez removed my tumour. After returning homeI had 6 grueling weeks of radiotherapy and 5 cycles of PCV chemotherapy at The Christie, Manchester.

It was a long and severely challenging recovery. There was a lot of support given to me at The Christie however nothing precisely about brain tumours. It wasn't until I came across the The Brain Tumour charity and Brain Tumour Research charity that gave me a lot of support and understanding.

Sadly in November 2025, my seizures started again and have continued for 6 months. I have been given various treatments and support by The Christie and as of June this year my seizures have stopped, yet there is still no cure.

This is why I am taking on the 88 squats a day challenge throughout July to raise as much money as I can to support and help anyone affected by this disease.

This disease is indiscriminate; it can affect anyone at any age and kills more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002.

Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. It is the only national charity focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. Help fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
