Story
Humans produce a total of 400 million tons of plastic waste a year. This plastic is often not disposed of safely and not recycled correctly.
40% of the worlds sea surface is covered in plastic. This plastic pollution causes 1.1 million sea birds and marine animals to die each year. 80% of this plastic begins on land and finds it's way to the oceans and waterways.
I am a 5 year old eco warrior trying my best to look after the oceans by keeping them clean and hoping to save many marine animals from dying. This is a huge responsibility but one that I feel strongly about and I love it.
I often carry out my own litter picking sessions during my days off school. Alongside this bike ride I will be working hard to collect as much litter in my local area as I can in order to prevent the plastic from reaching the ocean.
My family and I will be cycling 15-17 miles around the hilly Rutland water in October to raise as much money as I can. This money will be going to a brilliant charity 'The ocean cleanup' who work very hard to remove and recycle floating plastics around the world.
Please can you sponsor me for this event every £1 will make a huge difference.
Please REDUCE, RE-USE and RECYCLE and help me to keep the oceans clean!!!
Thank you
Eli
