Paul's fundraiser for Multiple System Atrophy Trust

Paul Fagan is raising money for Multiple System Atrophy Trust

Great North Run / Great South Run - Three Peaks - Hadrian's Wall - London Royal Parks Half Marathon

The Multiple System Atrophy Trust is the UK and Ireland's only charity dedicated to providing specialist support to all those affected by multiple system atrophy (MSA); a life-limiting neurodegenerative condition. We rely entirely on voluntary donations to provide our free support services.

Story

With the support of my wife Vicky, I will be tackling a series of challenges which will see me complete the Great North Run, Great South Run, the London Royal Parks Half Marathon, the three peaks and the 84 mile long Hadrian's wall. That is a total of more than 150 miles. All within just nine weeks between August and October.

I am doing this for my Dad, Mike Fagan. He was diagnosed with MSA on 3rd June this year following an initial Parkinsons diagnosis last summer. He faces an uncertain and uncomfortable future. But the way he has handled everything and remains in a positive mindset despite clearly being in considerable pain is truly inspirational.

Doing these events is going to hurt. There will be times when it will feel easier to just give up. But I am going to do it anyway. That is the lesson my Dad always taught me and continues to teach me through his actions. It may not be pretty, but I will get it done.

The event details are below:

w/c 10th August - Ben Nevis (with Vicky)

The Multiple System Atrophy Trust is the UK and Republic of Ireland's only charity dedicated to providing specialist support to all those affected by MSA; a life-limiting neurodegenerative condition. We rely entirely on voluntary donations to provide our free MSA Health Care Professional service, Social Welfare Specialist Service, a telephone helpline and regional in-person and digital support groups. We also fund research into both a cause and cure.
