💙 Pub Against Brain Tumours – Forget-Me-Not, Forget-You-Never 💙
Welcome, and thank you for visiting Pub Against Brain Tumours.
Since 2014, The Horse & Groom, Bittaford, has proudly raised funds for The Brain Tumour Charity. Thanks to our wonderful customers, friends, family and supporters, we have raised over £39048.44 (as of September 2026). 🎉
This cause is deeply personal. In 2014, I lost my Dad, Jim, to a glioblastoma brain tumour. Some of you may remember Jim the comedian behind the bar. I have also lost my dearest best friend Hazel, my Grandad James, and my cousin Andrew.
💙 Always in my heart ❤️
🍻 How have we raised it?
Through beer and cider festivals, quizzes, races, pool, darts, Bingo, raffles, auctions, murder mystery, charity events Clairvoyance readings nd The Jar on The Bar.
If you've taken part or donated, you helped make this happen. Thank you. ❤️
🏃♀️ Fundraising madness
You've also supported me through challenges including 8 million steps in 2020, running 10 miles every day throughout 2024, and completing the London Marathon in 2025. Despite my own health problems and living with chronic pain, I will ignore specialists advice and I will keep fundraising anyway I can. Brain tumour cancer patients and families face far greater challenges so I'll keep doing more for a cure🤍
💙 Why your donation matters❤️
Brain tumours can affect anyone, at any age, but it is still the biggest cancer killer in the under 40's. Every donation supports The Brain Tumour Charity’s research, campaigning, information and support services.
You can now donate through this JustGiving page or pop your donation into The Jar on The Bar at The Horse & Groom.🍻 💙
Thank you for every donation, event, raffle ticket, pound and word of encouragement.
But we're not finished yet. 💙
🙏 With heartfelt thanks, Dawn-Marie Landlady/ Chefette at The Horse & Groom, Bittaford

🩶About The Brain Tumour Charity🩶
The Brain Tumour Charity is the world’s leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of brain tumour research globally. Their mission is to save and improve lives – because when you, or someone you love, is diagnosed, a cure really can’t wait.
💔 Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and young adults under 40.
📈 Over 12,000 people are diagnosed in the UK each year – 500 of them children and young people.
⏳ High-grade brain tumours reduce life expectancy by an average of 27 years – the highest of any cancer.
😔 Only 12% of adults survive for 5 years after diagnosis.
💡 Government funding for brain tumour research is disproportionately low – which makes charity support absolutely vital.
The charity not only funds life-saving research but also provides emotional, practical, and informational support to families. Sadly, awareness of brain tumour cancer symptoms remains too low, and that needs to change.
If you or a loved one ever need help, please call their support line: 0808 800 0004
