Last year, I stepped outside my comfort zone and started running. At the time, I had absolutely no idea where it would lead me. If someone had told me then that I’d be training for my first half marathon, I honestly would have laughed.

And yet here I am… still wondering, “Who even am I?” 😂 because this is genuinely something I never thought I’d be doing!

I started running at 50, and what began as simply giving it a try has turned into something that has become a really important part of my life. It hasn’t always been easy, but that’s probably what has made it so rewarding.

This journey has been about so much more than just running. It has challenged me physically, but also mentally. It has taught me about discipline, determination and the importance of sticking with something. Getting out there week after week, building up the miles and pushing myself further than I ever thought I could has shown me that I’m capable of more than I realised.

The longer runs have probably taught me the most…there have been times when I’ve finished a run and thought, “I actually did that.” Looking back at where I started, I’m still amazed at how far I’ve come.

Taking on my first half marathon on 20th September is a huge personal challenge for me, but I wanted it to mean something more than just a personal achievement. That’s why I’ve chosen to raise money for Wales Air Ambulance.

Living in Wales, I know how important this service is and the incredible work they do, providing lifesaving care to people across the country when they need it most. Knowing that they rely on the generosity of supporters and fundraising to keep this vital service running makes me incredibly proud to support them.
