Story
It started with a curry. Now, it’s about doing good.
At Raval Indian Brasserie in Gateshead, we created the Inferno Curry — the hottest dish we’ve ever made — after a regular customer known as Curry Hell Carl declared:
“Best curry I’ve ever had — but not hot enough.”
That moment sparked a food challenge, a viral story, and now… a campaign to raise funds for the Great North Children’s Hospital through Newcastle Hospitals Charity.
The Raval Inferno Curry Challenge – Let’s Do Some Good
On Tuesday 27 May, 10 brave finalists will take on The Inferno — a curry made with ghost peppers, naga jolokia, and scorpion chillies, reaching over 1 million Scoville units.
But this isn’t just about heat. It’s about heart.
With the support of our customers, local leaders, and friends across the UK, we’re using the attention to do something meaningful — and we need your help.
How You Can Get Involved:
Eat It
Think you can handle the heat? Submit a 30–60 second video on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok. Tag @ravalrestaurant and use #RavalInfernoChallenge to enter for a chance to join the live final at Raval.
