Richard Scholey is raising money for St Luke's - Sheffield's Hospice
In memory of Margaret Scholey

100 Coffees in France · 20 June 2026

St Luke’s is an independent charity caring for terminally ill adults and their loved ones across Sheffield. Each year, we care for around 1,900 patients most of whom are cared for in their own home by our Specialist Palliative Care Community team.

Story

My wife Margaret had wonderful care at St Luke’s Hospice, this is where she died.

I was looking to find a way of raising money to give back to St Luke’s for the care she received.

I’m 78 so I’m too old to run, walking involves hills, channel swim is out because I can only do 5m so I tried to think of what else I could do…

Margaret and I loved going to France, she was a fluent French speaker, so I am taking French lessons, and in April and May, I will be visiting France and plan to approach random people that I meet and ask them to have a coffee with me - I hope to get to 100!

St Luke’s needs to raise £11million every year to keep providing their services across Sheffield, by sponsoring me in this 100 coffees challenge, you will be helping them to reach this goal.
