Glyn Owen is raising money for Diamond Blackfan Anaemia Support Group Uk
In memory of Robyn Parry

Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path Walk · 16 August 2025

At DBAS UK we aim to deliver support, research and hope to the DBAS community in the UK by bringing families together, communicating the latest medical information and funding research into causes and treatments.

Story

A 130-mile walk around the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path over nine days to raise money for Diamond Blackfan Anaemia Support Group UK in memory of Robyn Parry, who sadly passed away on 17 March 2025, aged 36.

Robyn was a proud nurse working for 7 years in Ysbyty Gwynedd and Ysbyty Glan Clwyd where he worked on the haematology and oncology ward.

Through a lifetime of illness, Robyn decided to dedicate his life to helping others. Now friends and family would like to come together to raise money for a cause that provided support to Robyn through difficult moments so that others may benefit from the same support.

About DBAS UK:

Our aim is to support children, families and adults who suffer from Diamond Blackfan Anaemia Syndrome (DBAS) through awareness, engagement, education, events and funding research and conferences around the world. We empower parents of children and adults with this extremely rare condition to take control of their care to achieve the best possible outcomes for their children and themselves. Our amazing work really does change lives and your donations can change lives too.

Robyn lived most of his life on Anglesey, sharing many great times with family and friends there. Although a 130-mile hike might not have totally been Robyn's idea of fun, he was never one to shy away from a challenge and was always up for an adventure. The event will celebrate many of the things that Robyn loved to do on the Island: Swimming, camping, beach BBQs and the occasional local pub.

The timing of the event will also coincide with what should have been the happiest week of Robyn's life; his wedding to fiancee, Bryony. While that special moment can no longer take place, friends and family may still come together to celebrate the memory of Robyn.

Event organisers, Ben and Glyn, invite as many people as possible who knew or worked with Robyn to join the walk in whatever way they would like or can. Please get in contact through this page and a full itinerary will be sent to you.
