Story
I'm running the 2026 Tokyo Marathon for #TeamStroke. I suffered an acute blood clot stroke to the cerebellum in January 2023 resulting in a loss of control of my whole left side along with my sense of balance. I was six weeks away from running the Tokyo marathan that year which obviously didn't happen. I have learned to walk, write and run again and was able to return to work. This will be my second marathon since my stroke having run London in 2025, also to raise funds for the Stroke Association.
I’m so grateful that I was not left more damaged and know that I am very lucky. The Stroke Association was extremely useful and a reassuring resource for me during my recovery and I know they do incredible work for those less lucky than me helping rebuild lives - of both stroke survivors and their families.
Help me reach the £3,500 I've committed to raising to secure my place in Tokyo - which will complete my six star World Marathon Majors journey started in 2015 in New York. You can donate in the currency of your choice.
There are over a million stroke survivors in the UK, with a new stroke victim every five minutes. The Stroke Association provide vital services to victims and their families and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
