We’re Serenna and Nikita, and we’ve decided to take on the challenge of running this year’s Oxford Half Marathon to raise money for MyVision Oxfordshire, a charity that supports people living with sight loss. This is a cause that means a lot to both of us. Serenna is running for her dad, who has been through so much with his eyesight. Seeing someone you love face the challenges that come with sight loss is incredibly difficult, and it has made us realise just how much people with visual impairments have to overcome every day. Nikita is running for a family friend who has also been affected by sight loss, making this something very close to both of our hearts.

We often take our eyesight for granted, but for someone living with sight loss, simple everyday things can become difficult. It can affect their independence, confidence and day-to-day life, and sometimes it can feel very lonely. That’s why we want to do our part. We’re running to raise money to help MyVision continue supporting people with visual impairments, giving them the guidance, support and reassurance they need. No one should have to face the challenges of sight loss alone. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference and will mean so much to us. Knowing that every mile we run and every donation we receive is helping someone who may be going through a difficult time will make all the training and hard work worth it.
