My wonderful Dad died unexpectedly aged 81. Instead of flowers I am asking for donations to Stonewall.

When I came out to Mum and Dad 30 years ago it was the height of the AIDS epidemic in a very homophobic Britain. I was frightened that in coming out I would lose my relationship with them. They were frightened for me. It wasn't pretty.

As I walked away Dad told me that he and Mum loved me and always would. He was the best cheerleader I could ask for.

Dad loved me without falter, he loved Jonny enormously and had a magic way of making everyone feel special. He was an ally to all of us, the most decent and kind man I will ever know and he believed in LGBTQ+ equality with all his heart.

I know it would make him smile enormously if you can donate a £ or two.
