I’m taking on this 10,000 ft. skydive for two very important reasons.

Firstly, to mark a big personal milestone as I turn 40 (yes, really!) and challenge myself to do something completely out of my comfort zone this summer.

Secondly, and far more importantly, to support the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal in delivering Telford’s very first cancer centre at Princess Royal Hospital which will double local cancer treatment capacity and mean patients no longer have to travel to Shrewsbury for vital care.

No one in Telford should have to go through gruelling treatment and then face long journeys just to access the support they need. Telford is my home, it is where I was born, raised and where I’m now bringing up my own family – and this centre will bring life-changing care right to our community.

Lingen Davies has helped so many families in Telford, including my own Nan, Betty, who I lived with from age of 11 and who is now my guiding star. I know what a difference that kind of support makes, which is why this is so important.

Now onto the fun (and slightly terrifying) part… the skydive! I won’t pretend I’m not nervous, but it’s all for an incredible cause.

And just to make things interesting, I will be accepting bids for who gets to push me out of the plane!? 😉
