Story
On August 2nd 2022 my stepdaughter Kim was diagnosed with a grade three brain tumour. She underwent surgery to remove as much of the tumour as was possible and then went through radiotherapy and 12 rounds of chemotherapy. Three years later she is doing amazingly well and keeping herself fit, healthy and positive but at the moment her tumour is incurable. So this August Kim and I are doing 100 squats a day to raise money for brain tumour research. Friends and family are joining our challenge and have been asked to raise a minimum of £25 per household. We will share details of who is participating and how they are doing throughout the month through social media. We are also asking those who can’t join in to sponsor us on this page.
We have chosen to do squats because they provide multiple health benefits including improved lower body and core strength, flexibility, balance and bone density. They are also something that can be done anytime, any place, anywhere making participation easier.
One in three people in the UK knows someone affected by a brain tumour. This disease is indiscriminate; it can affect anyone at any age. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002.
Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. It is the only national charity focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. Help fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
