July 2nd 2018 Angela Prosser sadly lost her brave five year battle to beat cancer.

For the last two weeks of her life Angela had fantastic care from the specialist nursing team at the Oncology Unit in Milton Keynes Hospital, their determination to find answers that could help her to live gave inspiration to both Angela and her family.

The battle continues, every minute, of every day, the search for a cancer cure is relentless, everyone’s lives at some time will be touched by this extremely destructive disease.

Since starting their challenge in 2019, Milton Keynes Hospital Charity Cancer Centre has been up and running for a number of years, but they still need help with on going investment for much needed research and specialist equipment.

Angela’s husband Steve, inspired by the care Angela received at Milton Keynes decided to do something positive to contribute towards the appeal

The idea for a series of challenging mountain bike rides was created when Steve and his friends were out on the trail one day taking a break over a much needed coffee.

Of course, mountain biking is not the easiest of pursuits and the chaps are not what might be described as high performing athletes, nevertheless their is a great synergy between the struggles a patient goes through dealing with cancer and also when you are riding a bike over demanding terrain. over long distances - and Steve, Jamie, Paul & Mark are certainly determined.

So the Trilogy Challenge was borne, starting with a relatively easy 70 mile ride along the Ridgeway from Princes Risborough to Avebury, Wiltshire back in 2019.

The next ride increased slightly to 100 miles along the Southdowns Way from Winchester to Eastbourne, completed very successfully in three days in 2021.

Now its the BIG One! The SARN Helen Trail - 270 miles of unrelenting terrain, including 30,000 ft of elevation from Conwy to Worms Head on the Gower - 8 days of grueling back to back riding.

The boys will be starting this final journey on Friday 27th June and hope to arrive on the Gower for Friday 4th July.

Why, Wales you ask, well Angela was born in Reynoldston just outside Swansea, close to the Gower Peninsula and fittingly with the end of the SARN Helen Trail at Wormshead.

A fitting end for the teams tribute to a very brave and much loved wife, Nana, and friend to so many she touched during her life.

It requires vast investment in both research and to provide dedicated facilities with highly qualified staff to help cancer patients and their families at every stage of their treatment so however much you maybe able to donate, it will be greatly appreciated by us all.

So there you have it, four ordinary guys, not known for being particularly athletic, going to do something extraordinary and inspiring to raise as much money as possible for Milton Keynes Charity Cancer Centre Appeal
