The Whole Caboodle's fundraiser for St Leonard's Hospice

The Whole Caboodle is raising money for St Leonard's Hospice, York
St Leonard’s Hospice is an independent charity, providing care and support for local people with life limiting illnesses. We have an In-patient Unit, Sunflower Centre and Hospice@Home service. Our care is free of charge to patients and their families but not free to provide.

Story

This year, The Whole Caboodle is on a mission. We are coming together to support St Leonard’s Hospice, a charity that has become incredibly close to our hearts after a member of our own ‘Caboodle family’ recently experienced their care first hand. Seeing the compassion and dignity they provided to our colleague's family member has inspired us to give back. We have a full calendar of fundraising activities planned for 2026, and we’d love for you to join us on this journey. Here is why this cause means so much to us...

People rarely think about hospice care until someone close to them needs it. That's when they realise that for all the good work the NHS does, it focuses on saving lives, not managing the end for people whose lives cannot be saved. Those people need specialist care to help them be comfortable and pain-free in their final days and to provide a tranquil space for relatives to spend time with them and say goodbye.

St. Leonard’s Hospice is an independent, registered charity based in York, dedicated to providing compassionate specialist palliative and end-of-life care to people living with life-limiting illnesses across York and North Yorkshire. For over 40 years, they have supported patients and their families with tailored care, whether in their peaceful in-patient unit, through Hospice@Home, or via wellbeing and outreach services in the community – all completely free of charge.

At a time when individuals and those closest to them are facing some of life’s most difficult moments, the Hospice offers comfort, dignity and expert support, helping people to live as well as possible for as long as possible. Their work also extends to carers and loved ones, with services such as bereavement support and carer respite, recognising that care doesn’t stop at the bedside.

But this invaluable care isn’t free to provide, only a fraction of the funding comes from statutory sources. That’s why the Hospice relies on donations, fundraising and community support to continue its vital services. Your contribution today helps ensure that no one in our community faces a life-limiting illness without the support, compassion and care they deserve.

Your support means everything. Thank you for donating!
