Story
The Three Amigos (Peter, Ian and Jacqueline) will be doing a tandem Skydive in support of St Helena’s Hospice, Colchester. the Hospice is there to help local people in North Essex to face incurable illness and bereavement.
Please read their stories below:
Ian:
In February 2025, I lost my wife Anne in very unexpected and traumatic circumstances. It was a devastating shock to all that knew her including our children and grandchildren and has turned my world upside down beyond words.
In May I realised I needed help and joined the ‘step into the sunshine’ group - a bereavement and friendship group run by Angela Barlow. There I met others in various stages of grief and we all quickly made friends.
They helped my tremendously and it was there I met with my other 2 Amigos - Jacqui and Pete.
Jacqui, Pete & I - along with the rest of the group both cried and laughed together and we were each other’s strength and stay.
Pete and I came up with the crazy idea of the skydive despite being afraid of heights and then coaxed Jacqui in on the madness! It was then that the 3 Amigos was formed!
Collectively we have agreed to raise funds for St Helena’s Hospice, where Pete’s wife Shelly spent her final days.

Peter:
In November 2024, Peter’s wife Shelly fell ill while on holiday with her family in India. Unfortunately on returning to England, Shelly was diagnosed with a terminal Grade 4 Glioblastoma brain tumour and sadly passed away on 2nd March 2025. Shelly was the centre of the family; an amazing, caring, funny, beautiful person and her absence is felt tremendously. The support from St Helena’s Hospice was incredible for both Shelly and her family which is why Peter wants to raise as much money as he can to ensure their services are able to support other families for many more years to come.

Jacqueline:
In December 2024 my brother Tetley (Gary Tye) unexpectedly and tragically died aged just 58. Our whole world fell apart, not just for his family, but for all the people that knew and loved him.
My brother used to love doing crazy shit, and it’s my time to honour him by doing this crazy thing…. Jumping out of a plane with my fellow amigos Pete and Ian.
This is for you Bruv ❤️❤️

We do hope you’ll be able to join us in raising funds for the hospice in memory of our loved ones, and to help raise the profile of ‘step into the sunshine’ after all, that’s where we all met.
