Brain Tumour Research is the leading voice of the brain tumour community and focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. We are campaigning to increase the national investment in research to £35 million per year and funding sustainable Centres of Excellence across the UK.

Story

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. This is unacceptable!

In 2023 my good friends Richard Sawyer & Iain Smith both died from brain tumours. Richard was my sailing buddy and an all round great bloke who taught me many things like not to jump into icy cold water! Iain was also a man of many parts, an actor, a cyclist, a painter. They are both sorely missed. They never met but they share so much.

Together with Nigel Blakey and, new recruit, Vladimir Petrik who knows a thing or two about brains and tumours, we are cycling from Barmouth to Great Yarmouth, across the width of Wales and England. We will be joined by Huw Davies at Birmingham to complete the journey. The whole journey is a total of 365 miles, taking 6 days. It's not as gruelling as LeJog but just as rewarding!

I am fundraising for Brain Tumour Research as they are the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK. Please help me fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.

And here's a piece from someone who knows a thing or two about tumours;

"Imagine the pain of losing not one, but two dear friends to the devastating impact of glioblastoma. This is the heart-wrenching reality for Tom. He pedals not just with the weight of his loss but with a fierce determination to honour his friends' memories by fighting this relentless disease. Alongside him rides a neurosurgeon (Vlad) who has dedicated his life to battling brain tumours, witnessing firsthand the courage of patients, the despair of families, and the desperate need for more effective treatments.

This charity bike ride is more than a journey; it's a lifeline for those grappling with the harsh diagnosis of brain tumours. By supporting this ride, you're not just funding research; you're fuelling hope, advancing treatments, and giving families precious time. Together, we can turn the tide against brain tumours. Join us, support us, and let's pedal towards a cure."
