Live music, good company, a bite to eat and the chance to raise money for a charity that has been absolutely marvellous to our family.

Why we’re doing it

We came across Daft as a Brush completely by chance, and our son has used them all the way through his treatment. We cannot praise them enough — the door-to-door service, the kindness, the compassion. We honestly do not know what we would have done without them.

The thing that surprised us most is how many people have never heard of them. The volunteers told us that patients who use the service tend to cope better with their treatment, simply because there is no stress about driving or parking. Once you’ve been through it yourself, you want everybody to know.

So this night is about two things: raising money, and getting the word out.

Who we’re raising it for

Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care (registered charity 328432) takes cancer patients to and from hospital for chemotherapy and radiotherapy, free of charge. Collected from home, taken to the appointment, brought home again. Around 60,000 patient journeys a year, over 300 volunteers, a fleet of more than 40 ambulances. Some patients travel from as far as the Scottish Borders, North Yorkshire and West Cumbria.
