Yes that's right on April 25th I will be lining up with thousands of others somewhere in Greenwich at the start of the London Marathon!

Why am I running the Marathon?

This is the single biggest charity fund raising event of the year in the UK and in its first year of being sponsored by Virgin I am lucky enough to have gained a place. I have set myself the challenge of running the marathon for the first time, to satisfy my own curiosity as to how achievable it is and to help others whilst doing it.

The charity I am suporting is Tomorrow's People

Over the last 25 years Tomorrow's people has been supporting the long term unemployed and has helped over 400,000 people on their journey back to work. There are many reasons why people don't work, they may be ill, caring for somebody, they may be a vulnerable young person, a lone parent or recently out of prison. In order to get, and keep a job many people need specialist support and guidance to help them overcome the barriers they face and develop the skills and confidence they need to move forward with their lives.

In celebrating 25 years of "Making Life Work" Tomorrow's People has also this year established a discretionary fund to help clients who are ready for work but require help in covering the small cost of items that would help them secure a job, such as an interview suit, an HGV licence, an ID card for security work for example.

I am aiming to raise £2,000 (before any PwC charitable matching) for the charity and am asking you as 1 of 100 people to sponsor me £20. Perhaps like you, I feel very lucky and priveledged to have been given opportunities in life, academically, socially and on the sporting front, which has given me choices in what path I wish to follow. Tomorrow's people helps many many people take that first step to overcome some difficult challenges that we have perhaps been fortunate enough not to have encountered.

Many thanks, on behalf of Tomorrow's People, for your support.

Chris
