Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

After many years of wanting to do it, I’ve now got the time on my hands to do a small solo trip round Europe on my motorbike. Forget a Ewan McGregor & Charlie Boorman’esc style trip to some far flung country and back, this is a smallish jaunt round some good roads in Europe in hopefully some decent weather.

I’m aiming to cover around 2500 miles in 8 days but trying to stick to back roads only and not venturing near a motorway or autoroute. The trip starts on the 14th May with an overnight ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo in France and finishes on the 22nd with a ferry from Calais to Dover. For the petrol heads amongst you, the route will take me around Monaco, the Col de Turini and San Bernardino passes, with possibly a lap of the Nurburgring thrown in for good measure. If you want the full route, email me at robin.hayles@yahoo.co.uk and I’ll send you some more info.

Anyways, after deciding to conduct such a selfish extravagance, I’d like to make it a little more worthwhile and so I want to raise some money for the Chilterns MS Centre along the way.

My mum was diagnosed with MS not that long ago and seeing how someone can be affected very quickly by the disease is startling and if I’m honest, sometimes frightening. Both the individual and their families have to cope with the difficulties presented by just going about daily life (if you didn’t already know then trust me, wheelchairs are bloody heavy…) and this is where the Chilterns MS Centre comes in, by not just helping the individual but also their families as well. Please read more about the centre at their website - www.chilternsmscentre.org

I’m not aiming to raise thousands but every penny you donate will be very gratefully received.
