We did it!!
So yesterday we lined up with 21,000 other people on Southsea common. Wearing tasteful red tutus over our running kit we wondered briefly what we were doing there, but the atmosphere soon grabs you. Despite being over taken by a team of the Royal Artillery pulling a landrover we finished. Kate in a very respectable time and Pam 65 seconds earlier than her estimated time....
So we're still breathing and just a little stiff but would like to thank all our sponsors for their amazing generosity and if you haven't sponsored us yet and would like to, it's not too late. Thanks again Love Pam and Kate xx
Our original message, just in case you're not sure why we did it:
If you stop and imagine the two most unlikely runners in the world you'd probably come up with us. Mother and daughter team, we've never done anything like this.
Those of you who know us have probably worked out that there must be a good reason to make us run..
Well here it is; we know a charming young man who has aplastic anaemia, and like you we knew absolutely nothing about it, so we decided that it was important to raise the profile of the charity that helps, and raise some much needed cash at the same time.
We're not normally given to begging for cash - it's not a pretty sight - but then after 10 miles we won't be anyway - so dig deep - please!
We would like to make special mention of the Gallister Girls who rowed 22 miles down the Thames( with a headwind all the way) in a fab time of 3 hrs 15 mins. They are sponsoring AAT via our web site and are responsible for a chunk of the impressively growing total on the page.
Anyway here's a quick training update. Possibly need to retitle the race as the great south 'jogging a bit quicker than walking event' !! Have been training though, so the main aim is to finish in one piece..
Can we also use this opportunity to say thanks to the Holbrook donor for the generous CAF cheque.
Well thanks for all the support so far and we will let you all know how we did on the day.
Love Kate and Pam xx
