Firstly, a big thank you for clicking the button that directed you here, whether you are a new or continuing supporter, we are hugely grateful for your support.
This is the 4th year of the Robin Wilkie Memorial Cycle along the Forth & Clyde and Union canals - approx 52 miles. It is no mean feat for the majority that take part. The funds are raised for Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, an aggressive cancer of which only 3% of those diagnosed live beyond 5 years - a figure that has remained the same for the past 40 years. Kim Craven who organises this cycle watched, along with her family, her brother aged 49 die in a matter of months. It was the frustration and sadness that made her want to do something positive in his memory.
And along with a great bunch of friends, family and now extended interest, we are doing this cycle to raise valuable funds into researching pancreatic cancer. We are particularly pleased to announce this year that Sally Magnusson, journalist and broadcaster, daughter of Magnus Magnusson, will be starting the cycle for us at Anniesland. We asked her if she would do this for us to help us raise awareness of this disease, and also because her own father died of it.
As this is a group page, please leave an encouraging message for the person you are sponsoring - they will appreciate your encouragement particularly in the last few miles when they are repairing their umpteenth puncture, probably in the pouring rain, and aching from the waist down! Thanks so much again. And now the Justgiving blurb....
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
