SOS Sahel aims to improve the lives and environment of poor, marginal herders and farmers in Africa's Sahel region. Over 20 years, it has demonstrated that when communities are given the right support, they can lift their families out of poverty while regenerating the natural resources upon which they depend.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and donate!

Some of SOS Sahel's achievements over the years:

•    80,000 hectares of lowland forest in Borana, southern Ethiopia, have now been transferred from state to community management involving 110,000 people – thus improving rural people’s lives while giving them a real incentive to protect and regenerate forests.

•    Over 500km of cattle routes have been successfully demarcated in central Sudan, allowing thousands of nomadic pastoralists to find adequate grazing pasture without clashing with local farmers.

•    Five community-based organisations in Tominian, Mali, have been supported and strengthened to carry out their own development activities.  This has enabled over 7,000 people and their livestock secure a reliable water supply, over 22,800 people to secure their rights of access to natural resources and over 7,500 people increase their food security.

A Bambara adage: “dorome kelen man dogo; ba kelen man cha”

“£1 is not too little; 1,000 is not too much”

So please donate now! Many thanks for your support. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: SOS Sahel will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
