We are Elaine Eccleston and Mick Harvey and we are Paramedics working for the West Midlands Ambulance Station. We are based at Donnington Ambulance Station covering the town of Telford within Shropshire. We have decided to organise a bike ride with all donations going to a wonderful charity called Newlife. This charity provides help, equipment and financial support to families with children who have minor to severe disabilities and terminal illnesses. Having both got children who have been born with a birth defect / hearing disability, this charity is very close to our hearts. Due to the nature of our job, we inevitably come face to face with children who are less fortunate than our own. On the 5th and 6th June 2010 we intend to cycle to all ambulance only stations within Shropshire. This is roughly 130 miles in those two days. This is going to be a very tough challenge but we are extremely lucky to have many of our colleagues who have volunteered to help and take part in this event. It really is amazing to have 20+ colleagues who are prepared to help us raise money for a charity that is special to us. Please help us raise as much money as possible to help these children and families.

About the charity

Newlife puts disabled and terminally ill children at the heart of everything it does, providing a range of practical support services to families across the UK. For more information, visit www.newlifecharity.co.uk.
