Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. This is an epic year for running and fundraising. In November, after completing the New York marathon (my 13th marathon) I will be retiring from long distance running. But not before I've run 100 miles of races starting with the Paris half marathon in March.
Im fundraising to sponsor a mechanic from Addis Ababa on the wheelchair technologists course at the Tanzanian Centre for Orthopaedic Technologists. Ethiopia is a very poor country, the impact of increasing by 100% the number of qualified technologists (there is just 1 at present) will be huge. Correctly fitted wheelchairs enables mobility impaired people access education, work and leisure in a way that no other equipment can.
Having successfully reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro 3 times I want to give something back to that beautiful country. Independent mobility is a passion of mine, so what better way to make a difference.
Please sponsor me now, knowing the fund raising target is getting closer is always very motivating - you may like to consider sponsoring more than 1 race (or even all 8) I will be updating this site after each race.
The Paris half marathon was my first race for nearly 2 years. I ran all the way in a very slow time of 2 hours 58 minutes. Then I went to Belfast and ran a 10k, a week later it was the London Marathon. During May I ran a 10k in Edinburgh (very hilly) and a 10k in London (very very wet). Next is Cardiff in July, the Great North Run in September and finally in Novemebr the New York Marathon. Training for my final marathon begins again in early July.
Come back to the site to see how I get on.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Motivation Charitable Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Every donation you make now helps motivate me to keep going on this epic year of running.
Many thanks.
Tricia
