Story

Hi everyone

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

We are in serious training for the Flora London Marathon on 23rd April 2006. In January we attended a 'Marathon Training Weekend' in the Forest of Dean and learnt that 'no pain' definitely means 'no gain'!!! We are now doing 'threshold' runs and 'kenyan hills' each week as well as our increasingly long run on a Saturday morning (8.00 am!). On 4th March 2006 we ventured further than ever before and ran 16 miles with a 1 mile walk either side - part of the route was covered in snow and ice which slowed our progress somewhat!

Update - up to 18 miles on 11th March - the finish line is getting closer each week!

Further Update  - 18 miles today, 2nd April 2006 and the last long run before the marathon. Now into 'taper' period. Juliet and Lucy have both had injuries (knees and feet) but intend to complete the London marathon whatever happens (hopefully not crawling).

Further, Further Update - 9 days to go - both Lucy and Juliet have sore knees from 'overuse' - going up to the old smoke on Friday in order to go to Expo and pick-up number. Hopefully will get a quiet day on Saturday ready for the off on Sunday - wish us luck!!!

Final Update

'Been there, done it, this is the t-shirt. 26.2 impossible is nothing' - the words written on our finisher's t-shirts. We did it!! Liz finished in 4:59:41 and Juliet and Lucy finished together in 5.29.26. We are all absolutely shattered and hurting all over but it was worth it. We've run the London Marathon!

Thanks for all your support along the way.

Juliet, Lucy & Liz
