UPDATE: Mission Accomplished!
On Thursday 14th October at dawn I found myself at the top of Kili, made it up to Gillman's point on the summit at 5681m. Unfortunately the fast changing weather prevented us from going on further to conquer the higher peak of Uhuru.
Thank you to all for your support. It kept me going all night in the sub-zero temperatures to make it to the top!
However, the effort and suffering was worth the good cause for which we were raising money - Sense International - supporting deafblind children and their parents in low-economic development countries. We were touched by the plight of the parents we met who go out of their way to deal with the challenges of coping with a deafblind child on a day to day basis. It is a challenge that will last more than 6 days for these families and thus makes our ordeal of almost insignificant.
Thank you Sense International for doing good work. ------------------------------------- Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online. My challenge (along with 32 others) is to climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro 19,344 ft - the highest mountain on the continent of Africa. We will all be paying for this trip out of our own pockets. One of the objectives is to raise money for Sense International, a charity that looks after children who are both deaf and blind. Sense International (http://www.sense.org.uk/international), provides international support in the establishment of specialist education units and community outreach programmes for deafblind children and their families in LED countries such as Romania, Croatia, Russia, India, Kenya, Tanzania, Bolivia, Brazil, etc. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sense International will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support. Parveen
