I did it! I really surprised myself and completed the race in 3hrs 16mins and enjoyed every minute of it. My estimated time was over 4hrs but I just kept going. The aches and pains disappeared after a couple of days but the elation lives on.
When I first heard that I had a place in the Great North Run my main concern was what colour my new trainers should be - I now realise after serious training how insignificant that was. I am now approaching the final months of training and feel quite capable of completing the half marathon if I am able to continue at my present pace.
