Women are still getting breast cancer and dying from it. That’s why Breast Cancer Campaign and Breakthrough Breast Cancer have joined forces to become the UK’s largest dedicated breast cancer research charity. And with your help, together we can put an end to breast cancer, once and for all.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Pat I am 50 years old and have had a weight problem since I was 18.  Over the  years my weight has gone up and down and every time it went down it went up even  more.   I broke my foot February 2008 which didn’t heal and I had to have an operation in May 2009, by the time I had the op I weighed 20st.  I was immobile for 8 weeks and when allowed to walk again it was a struggle and a bit of a wake up call, so  I decided that I had to do something or I would be overweight forever.

A friend had been to a hypnotist for weight loss and had lost weight so I decided to give it a try and  signed up for 3 sessions with Lisa Jackson (qmhypnotherapy.co.uk).  Before the hypnotherapy I had never eaten healthily  or exercised but  I now do and  I have continued to see Lisa for regular sessions to keep me focused.

I then decided I wanted to exercise but  I didn’t want to go to the gym or swimming as I felt too self conscious, so I thought if I got a Personal Trainer they can come to me and I wouldn’t have to leave my house and then no-one would see me struggling to exercise.

Luckily for me I found Shelley Baker (www.fits-u-personaltraining.co.uk), I had my first session on 6th July 2009 while still on crutches and haven’t looked back.  I have just over four stone and am fitter and healthier than I have ever been, She has made me look at exercise in a different way and I now actually enjoy it,  I now regulary  go to the gym, cycle and  swim and have even started jogging. I was a size 32 top and 26 bottoms I am now a size 20 top and a 16 bottoms, I want to lose another 5 stone and with Lisa and Shelley’s help I know I will.

I have just turned 50  and decided I wanted to achieve some things  and as my mum and aunt both died from secondary breast cancer decided to raise  money for Breast Cancer Campaign.  Therefore I  have signed up for a few charity events, because I am now confident I will be able to do them and to raise money for a cause that's close to my heart.

The first was the Pedal it Pink charity  ride at Lee Valley Park on 28th March which I completed and raised over  £1000, my second event is the Human Race Triathlon at Dorney Lake on 3rd July 2010

As I started my fitness sessions on 6th July on crutches and the trialthon is being held one year on I felt it would be a great acheivement to complete a triathlon.

Well I did it, I completed my first triathlon in 47 mins, I came 298 out of 335, I can't believe I did it, if you want to read my story of the day go to www.trifits-u.co.uk.

I  loved it so much that I am doing the HSBC one on 12th  September. I am in training as it is twice the distance of the last one and this time I am again raising money for Breast Cancer Campaign.

Breast Cancer Campaign's  mission is to beat breast cancer by funding innovative world-class research to understand how breast cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure.

Therefore please help me raise as much money as I can for Breast Cancer Campaign.

Thank you for all your donations keep them coming.
