In a mad moment Mike and I and two crazy friends decided to do this Road Rally - from Home to Rome. Actually it is from Calais to Rome and it follows the route of the Grand Tour, taking in Paris, the South of France, Venice and Rome. Sounds idyllic but we have to do it in a banger that does not cost more than £100 AND we have to do it in 4 days. We know that we will have some fun but our aim is to raise money for Home-Start Wokingham District - a local charity that supports families who have at least one child under 5 and who are experiencing stress and difficulties. Home-Start works with volunteers who give emotional and practical support to families in their own homes helping to prevent crisis and breakdown. HELP - We've just heard that the car is broken beyond repair. Please don't say we have to walk the 1400 miles to Rome!
SO - we are now looking for a replacement! Please await the next picture - maybe a Rolls Royce next time.
WELL it is not a Rolls Royce it is a Datsun Sunny GIVEN to us by a fabulous old couple who live in Bracknell - thank you so much, we are really grateful. SO the trip is on again.
We've got some press interest too now so have a look at The Wokingham Times - should be in the one that comes out on Wednesday 17th September.
So now it is 5 days to D Day and the car is being decorated - we just hope the damp mornings don't swell the pasta! It's having pasta stuck on because our team name is Pasta Pasta Not In This Car.
As all our friends and colleagues have been so generous I have upped my target to £1000 - We don't expect to make it but you never know! Thanks to everyone who has sponsored us so far.
