Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the UK's devastating and fastest growing health crisis, working to create a world where diabetes can do no harm. It’s a fight that involves all of us – sharing knowledge and taking diabetes on together. Join us.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

In 2004 my Pancreas decided it would be best if the two of us parted company and being rather attached to it at the time I put up a bit of a struggle. After a couple of coma's and more tubes than the Northern Line, the two of us went our seperate ways. Once I'd learnt to walk again, breathed on my own and generally stopped being quite so pathetic, I decided to pull my socks up and was determined to give something back. As I am sure you will know, one of the jobs of the pancreas is to make Insulin and, with mine all but gone, I joined one of the 2.4m diabetics in the UK.

Therefore, in April this year, I will be taking part in the London Marathon on behalf of Diabetes UK and would like to ask for your support - however large or small - in reaching my fund raising goal.

Diabetes UK stands up for the interests of people with diabetes by campaigning for better standards of care. They are the largest funder in the UK of research into better treatments for diabetes, for the search for a cure and provide practical support, information and safety-net services to help people manage their diabetes.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Diabetes UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
