Flora London Marathon 2003 · 13 April 2003 ·

Protecting children in Thailand from abuse, exploitation and inequality. We work in partnership with grassroots organisations to keep children safe at home, in school and in society

Story

I am taking part in the Flora Wheelchair Marathon 2003 to raise money for the Pattaya Orphanage Trust. This money will be used for the Vocational School for the Disabled in Pattaya, Thailand.

In Thailand, there are few chances for people with disabilities - even less so for females. The Vocational School offers free training in computers, electronics and English Business Skills to up to 200 disabled people, giving them a real chance for a bright future. Unfortunately, not many of their students are women due to a lack of suitable accommodation and limited courses.

The Pattaya Orphanage Trust need to raise £500,000 to build new accommodation and classrooms so that more women can be given a chance.

I am one of the lucky ones - I have studied Electronics at the school and now plan to open my own repair shop. I want to help other women to be given the same opportunity as me so that they too can earn a living and become independent.

You can help by sponsoring me online.

It's the most efficient way for me to raise funds for my charity. If you are a UK taxpayer your donation will be increased by almost a third at no cost to you.

Both myself and Pattaya Orphanage Trust really appreciate your donation, and I am sure that the future female students of the school will also be grateful. Any amount will make a difference but please try to give generously!
Many thanks.
